UbuTechHub is a technology company building AI solutions grounded in Tanzania's languages, education system, culture and local challenges, starting with Mwalimu AI, an offline teaching assistant for schools.

A social enterprise, built to sustain a mission
UbuTechHub is a technology company focused on building locally relevant AI solutions for Tanzania and Africa.
We believe that as AI becomes more important, depending fully on foreign AI APIs can become expensive and can limit our control over our data and technology. Tanzania also needs more local AI systems that understand our languages, education system, culture, and local challenges.
Our first project, Mwalimu AI, is an offline AI teaching assistant designed to work in schools without depending on a constant internet connection. Through this project, we are exploring how AI can be made more affordable, accessible, and useful for Tanzanian communities.
Our long-term goal is to contribute to the development of local AI capacity by working on local data, AI models, and infrastructure while creating practical solutions for real problems.
